Vladimír Vácovský‘s collages are intense pictures, rich, energetic and full of conflicting feelings; handmade, slowly, with care, each fragment revealing more, pulling us into a world that is both dark and brooding, a place that asks questions, probes and demands that we look and search for meaning within the chaos of his images.
For over 8 years Vácovský has been creating these collages, these imaginary islands of creative freedom and fantasies, each image a constant and perpetual recycling of thoughts and stories, a pouring out of personal confrontation with the state of the world, with the society in which he lives. This search has led him to create pictures that are acutely political as they dig into the cultural and sociological truth of early 21st Century capitalism and the wanton greed and destruction wrought upon the vast swathe of humanity by the few. The 1%. Here’s what he has to say about his work::
[my work is] infused with personal depth, [each] passionate, a rich mosaic full of mood, energy and dreaming. World of inspiration and an open space where I look for myself and define my own borders of self-expression, without limits, censorship, restrictions and barriers.
