Tang Yau Hoong‘s illustrations are deceptively simple but oh so clever. He lures you in with his bold and bright colours and flat shapes and once you’re hooked it’s only then you notice that there’s something else going on. A surreal narrative of sorts which he exploits by using a careful balance of positive and negative space. I must say I am absolutely taken with them, I like his humour. It’s everyday things, seeing humdrum activities in a new way, an original way.
