Star Wars Uncut The Epic Fan Film

| Film and animation | January 24, 2012

Lets get this straight. I AM NOT A STAR WARS GEEK. However I loved the 1st four films of the series and am never tired of watching the various take offs and spin offs that are often trotted out  - the funniest one being Eddie Izzard’s Darth Vader sketch. This film is alot more than that. It most certainly is not your average run of the mill star wars nerd obsessive crap. No. It is mind blowing. It is a large idea, a wonderful concept that came to fruition with spectacular results and as a project made with love it is very special. And I’m not the only one who thinks so as it recently won an Emmy.

A film maker in America, Casey Pugh, decided in 2009 to take the original 1977 Star Wars film, chop it into 15 second pieces and invite fans, from around the world, to re-create a specific piece in whatever  medium they liked whether it be; live-action, puppetry, animation, etc.

In 2011 his team put the best pieces together and, with the blessing of George Lucas, released the finished film, Star Wars Uncut: The Director’s Cut. I have it here for your viewing, all two hours and five minutes of it. Its magical.

If you’d like to learn more about this crowd funded project you can get it all on the official site.
