Description

I own ‘Connollys of leap’ in West cork. It has been a music venue since the mid 80′s and has seen some big names come and make some music in my home. many Irish acts such as Bell X1, The Frames, Damien Rice, The Four of us, Hot House Flowers…. Some classic musicians have graced the stage such as John Martyn, Nick Cave, Steve Albini, Gerreth Hudson.

I am Open and receptive to all types of nights and exhibitions. Please get in touch and lets revive our country every way we can.

Peace and Love.

  1. Hi Sammcnicholl

thanks for joining our co-operative and im absolutely with you in reviving this country – thats predominantly the reason I set this site up. I hope you get lots out of it and get the opportunity to give loads too.

I see you’ve used the comment section to ask people for skills – theres also an email contact above the map on their skills profile that you can use too – sometimes its better as comments via the site can end up in their spam filter….

On another note if you ever feel like contributing to our blog please do – it might be about doing a profile, a promotion on Connollys, music reviews, essays, criticism, things you’ve seen, like, a profile of yourself and your work, ideas, advice, anything at all – this blog is for the use of everyone. Just send me text and photos you want to use and ill have it up as soon as i can. Im always looking for members to contribute. At the moment we have over 8,000 readers in 70+ countries so your work will get out there

An please spread the word about mutantspace too as this site is run on zero and the more of us on board the more we can do to help each other.

hope the venue is going well – youve had some legendary gigs down there and i wish you all the best

    take care
    Moray

WOW! prompt reply…I do love the immediacy of the internet and the uniting of kindred minds.

A blog spot might be great, like a history of Connollys coincided with a gleaming view for the future. Like a ‘Backward is the new forward’ spin! ha!

I am sooooo keen to get some acts down here asap and reattach the jugular!

      • Im at this on my own doing it by myself with members helping out whenever things are needed so its all pretty personal id like to think we’re a proper co-operative – we have our bi-annual Trash Culture Revue coming up in cork next week which is completely organised, performed by members, posters designed, sound engineer and volunteers are members and marketing and pr all done by members so it does work…please do send in a piece about Connollys so many people have their own story about the place…great to have you on board – perhaps we could organise a trash culture revue down in connollys sometime next year?

Very good work, I adore the philosophy and the idea that is a collective. Yes a trash culture event down here would be perfect, there is a generation that have never seen this place along with others who have not been here for years and years. I am open for business.. Lets get the ball rolling!

    • cool im with you there – think about a date and we can get started there will be alot of people in the skills bank up for it doing all sorts of things in creative, production, administration and marketing areas…

    Hi Sam.

We’ve met but we did’nt introduce ourselves.

I organised the fundraising night for Lámh Healing Foundation.

I was speaking to Eileen yesterday. I asked if it would be OK to interview musicians about their journey to Connolly’s, their experience there, how they felt after and any fun and interesting stories they might have.

I dont have any real plans of what to do with it other than helping to keep the spirit of the place alive and to create a network.

Iv got this neat little recording device coming in the post and a decent enough camera.
Im not planning on scouring the countryside but rather just catch whoever comes along.

If you have any input, ideas, whatever, I would not only be delighted, I hope for it.

This is my email or your mam has my number.

    Take care,

    Darragh
