Description
I’m a PhD student in geography based in UCC at the moment, soon to be based in Spain however. While my own work does not really relate very strongly to the production of maps, cartesian, or euclidean forms of geography I am very interested in the power of place as constructed through socially produced space. For this reason, I love this project.
My work as a geographer relates to this.
The skills I can offer involve the ability to make maps (although I have not done so recently), and as a good researcher in performing sociological or ethnographic studies. I don’t think any of these skills will be much use here however!
What I can offer is my experience as an archivist (in terms of cataloging and filing articles, newspapers, books, etc.) and also some experience in publishing in terms of working as an editor (checking sources, typescripts, stylesheets, etc.). If anyone needs help with this stuff, I may be off assistance!

Hi Dimerocks
welcome to mutantspace, thanks for joining our co-operative and I hope you get lots out of our co-op and get the opportunity to give loads too – even when you move to Spain you can use this site and hopefully contribute. We have members all over the world.
As far as maps go – i too love maps so if you ever feel like contributing to our blog about maps, place, cartography/geography in general please do – you could also write a piece of fiction, reviews, on people that have influenced you, inspired you, it might be advice for others, criticism, things you’ve seen– this blog is for the use of everyone. Just send me text and photos you want to use and ill have it up as soon as i can. Im always looking for members to contribute.
At the moment we have 10,000s readers in 70+ countries so your work will get out there
Our last bi-annual festival, the trash culture revue was in November and youre very welcome to get involved in the next one which will be from 17th – 20th May – perhaps something to do with maps, the change in place over time, etc (Im living in Cork now – for a few years – and poured over maps of the city when i got here and found them fascinating)
Anyway, please spread the word about mutantspace too as this site is run on zero and the more of us on board the more we can do to help each other.
take care
Moray
