Seamie Gallagher’s Photography Is Rooted In Place
Seamie Gallagher‘s photography is rooted in place, in Cork, in the natural beauty of his surroundings. Like many members in our skills exchange he’s trying things out, experimenting, playing and I’m delighted to be able to post up a small selection of his photography portfolio.
Here’s what he has to say about his work:
While in college studying Textiles and Print I started experimenting with photography to capture various textures and tones to apply to my work. It was only after finishing college that I really began to take photography seriously by researching as many artists and techniques as possible.
Living in Macroom in west Cork i am surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty from The Gearagh which is the remains of the only ancient post glacial alluvial forest in Western Europe to Gougane Barra with its breathtaking scenery and forest walks.
I try to capture my surrounding that people tend not to notice on a regular basis from dead weeds to old shoes and present them in a way that is artistic and pleasing to the viewer.
