Sarah Mazzetti’s Illustrations And Drawings Are Really Fresh And Full Of Vitality
There’s something about Sarah Mazzetti‘s illustrations and drawings that I really like. They’re more like sketches for a more complete work but having said that I love their freshness and sense of fun – there’s no preciousness there, they seem quite spontaneous. She’s also a comic artist which is quite evident when she uses hand drawn text and images in the same work. In someways they’re more like posters for something, but for what I don’t know.
Most of these images are taken from her ‘Dictator’ series but after looking at them I can’t discern her politics or whether she’s making a political statement. If she is making a point then what is it? I can’t make head nor tail of it? They seem strangely apolitical which is odd seeing as she’s picked on some of the most divisive leaders of the 20th Century. Then again she’s only in her 20s so it’s safe to say there is much more to come from Mazzetti and I look forward to seeing more of her work in the future.
