San Poggio’s Paintings Are Surreal And Bizarre

San Poggio‘s paintings are pretty strange to say the least, the pictures most definitely surreal, bizarre even. Their aesthetic seems to bridge European art history and the magic realism of South America, where Poggio is from, while it’s pictorial language is firmly rooted in modern western consumerism; video games, sci-fi, crap tv, media, technology, waste, ecological disaster and so on.

It is wholly bizarre and to be perfectly honest I don’t think looking at the images online does the work any favours. There’s too much going on.
