Pia Bramley‘s drawings and illustrations in ink wash are stunning, the technique so much more difficult than what you might think. It takes alot of confidence, clarity and practice to draw pictures that are seemingly effortless, done on a whim. Always the way. Nothing is as it seems.

They actually remind me of Ludwig Bemelmans illustrations in his Madeline books – a series of classic children’s books that are filled with the most wonderful drawings. All ink washes. Now there’s a compliment I’m sure Pia Bramley would be happy to receive.
