Mike Hewson’s Homage To The Lost Spaces Public Art Installation Remembers The Earthquake That Hit Christchuch In February 2012

Artist Mike Hewson‘s ‘Homage To The Lost Spaces’ project is made up of 10 large mixed media installations in New Zealand. After the horrific 6.3 magnitude earthquake that hit Christchurch in February this year the City authorities allowed Hewson to temporarily renovate designated areas that were already slated to be demolished for reconstruction.

It’s a poignant work and a great example of a visual artist responding to a social issue, a collective tragedy.
