Mayfield Arts Centre Host Globalfest 2012
What kind of future can you imagine for yourself, your community and your world?
What problems do we need to challenge to create this future?
What values are important in shaping the future you imagine?
40 young people have already taken part in a week of creative workshops in Cork and a large number of young people gathered at the TouchWood skatepark for the Globalfest Launch last weekend. This week Mayfield Arts Centre will be hosting young people from all over Cork and from Counties Clare, Kildare, Dublin and Limerick and sharing young peoples’ visions for the future of their communities and the world in a number of ways. You can see their work on the globalfest website.
Closing the festival is the main event in Cork City Centre on July 14th from 12 – 6pm. There will be a full line up of dance, theatre, music and rap on the Main Stage, complimented by a wide range of free arts workshops and interactive activities. An eye-catching new public art/street art piece that has recently be completed in the Bishop Lucey Park by young people from Mayfield will also be offically launched at the park during the main event.
