Mathilde Aubier’s Collage Illustrations Are Beautifully Graphic
Mathilde Aubier uses collage techniques in her wonderfully tempered illustrations. Unlike many who work in the artform she seems to stick to a very muted palette and is happy to utilise simple shapes in her work. The result allows her designs to breathe, they have space to dance.
That’s what I love most about her work; it’s uncluttered, clean, there’s nothing fussy about it, it’s funny and created in the old school way – with with paper, scissors and glue – in short she’s a confident, clever and artistic and I look forward to seeing more of her work.
