Magdalena Lamri‘s paintings are evocative and beautiful and remind me of the work of the late Lucian Freud and the exciting British painter Jenny Saville. Lamri’s representation of flesh in her mixed media figurative paintings is so vital, so rich, her soft palette managing to offset the strangeness of her compositions that often involve stags, deer and rabbits, the two sometimes morphing into strange hybrids.

When I found her paintings I went and checked her site out and found the oddest statement about her work:
