A Photography Project In Which Two Students Ate, Digested, Excreted Out And Then Washed 35mm Film
Luke Evans and Josh Lake, came up with this great idea for a project which they called, ‘Inside Out’. The two – who are students studying Graphic Design and Photography – decided to find out what would happen if they ate, digested, excreted out and then washed individual frames of photographic 35mm film.
First step was to design small capsules to put the film into so that the sharp edges wouldn’t cause any serious harm but would still allow the chemicals of the body to wash over the film. They then swallowed the capsules and waited until the body did its thing. Then out came the capsules.
The effect of the body’s digestive process made marks on the film as it passed through the digestive tract. Once out the film was washed then put under a scanning electron microscope to create these beautiful images.
