Laurent Monnet’s Digital Art Is Surreal
I was getting tired of looking at digital art until I came across the young French artist Laurent Monnet. He’s only been working in this form for two years and what he’s achieved so far is extraordinary. He’s clearly inspired by the likes of Magritte and Dali – melting faces and floating figures are a prominent feature in his work – and acknowledges the influence of contemporary digital artists Richard Roberts and Alexander Otto.
I get the sense that Monnet is still finding his style – he’s allowed he’s only a young lad – but, having said all that, he has a good eye and a real talent for creating compelling images. He’s definitely worth keeping an eye on.
