Laura Redburn AKA Cardboard Cities makes some of the finest collages around. Inspired by colour, animals, nature, old films and science fiction the Welsh artist creates vibrant pictures full of humour that hint at a darkness, a dream world inhabited by strange characters and places.

What I like most the work is her range of style; the use of mixed media, pattern work and bold shapes in her pictures, something you don’t often see in the work of many collage artists most of whom are quite happy to use found images to create their dystopian worlds.

Redburn has this to say about her work:

Often when I’m watching something, I have trouble focusing on what’s happening because I’m so distracted by the scenery, or the colours in the shot, or just the way the shot has been composed.
