Jaimie Warren Wonderful Photographs Of Americana Are Brash, Lurid And Trashy
I’m so glad I found Jaimie Warren‘s work as her funny, candid style photographs represent everything I love and hate about Americana. They’re candid, self-depreciating, trashy, lurid, grotesque, garish, brash, big, bold and so well executed. Her effortless style – each snapshot is tightly focussed and beautifully framed – is a technique that’s so difficult to achieve and is what makes her work exceptional, a cut above the rest.
As well as being internationally acclaimed as a photographer Warren is also a performance artist – a discipline which has obviously been a huge influence on her work as a photographer – and many of her images are self – portraits. Suffice to say she’s not afraid to mock herself. I’ve only posted up a few of her photos here but it’s well worth checking out her other work on her website.
