Jack Davison is a young photographer who has been taking portraits and street pictures for a number of years and while many of his photographs are digitally manipulated to create an extreme aesthetic, with high contrasts, double exposures and saturated colours, he has a disarming style that keeps you looking, wanting to see more.
Like many of the new generation of photographers Davison is self taught. He started taking snaps, began uploading them to flickr and was soon surfing the net for influences and techniques. However, technique alone doesn’t make for a good picture and Davison has worked hard to develop a style with a keen eye and a sensibility that leaves you lingering, thinking, searching for an underlying narrative that gives more depth to his subjects.
This constant exploration keeps Davison moving forward and me intrigued. The early days of photoshop are well behind him and I look forward to see his future work, seeing how he develops his art over time.
