Chad Davis AKA Visual Defects Collages Decay Motown

I can’t find out anything about Chad Davis AKA Visual Defects or much about his mixed media collage, paintings and found object assemblages. What I have gleaned from the scant information on the internet is that he, like many collage artists, is inspired by nostalgia, the 50’s and 60’s, as well as his beloved city of Detroit. A place synonymous with the collapse of the industrial heartland of America.

Davis has a brash, bold style, an aesthetic that compounds his vision of decay, what he sees in Detroit, what he sees everyday. It’s as if he speaks for the old Detroit, the birthplace of the motor car and the Motown sound.
