Ben Frost’s Subversive Pop Art Has A Satirical Bite
Australian artist Ben Frost is known for his wildly colourful Pop Art that takes it’s inspiration from graffiti, collage, photorealism and sign-writing. He seems to get great delight out of subverting mainstream iconography from the worlds of advertising, entertainment and politics and his canvases are bold and often controversial.
As the artist himself says about his work:
I’ve always loved to poke fun at the world around me – especially in relation to advertising and mass-produced consumerism. I want to show a world as it really is -where Bugs Bunny is high on Special K, where Hello Kitty and Tony the Tiger are making out, and where Goofy has the blood of the world on his hands.
