The Art Hand Art School Has Been Running An Encaustic Painting With Lora Murphy In Waterford
The Art Hand, art school, has been busy lately with a great course led by artist Lora Murphy in Encaustic Painting. That’s painting with wax! An extremely intensive three day course that produced 62 paintings in a variety of styles from Egyptian Portraits to Abstract Art. Many different mixed media techniques were used to embed images into the wax and on the final day the participants exhibited their artworks in The Art Hand.
Lora was assisted by artist Rebecca Jane Leech who is also a Ballymaloe trained chef. She also assisted Miranda Corcoran with vegetarian evening meals which were stunning. Participants travelled from as far as Cork, Clare, Offaly, Westmeath and Wexford and stayed locally for the duration of the course.
The Art Hand provides a wide range of intensive art courses in painting, drawing, photography, film-making, stained glass and more. Each tutor is an experienced artist and specialist in their own chosen field. We believe in challenging participants to learn more than just new techniques.
