The Beautiful Architecture Of An Ant Colony

Ants are the most incredible species. Check out this video showing the architecture of an ant colony – yep, that’s right this structure was built be tiny ants. What you’re looking at is researchers pumping ten tonnes of concrete down an ant hole and then slowly and carefully excavating the site to see what an ant colony looks like.
The result is equivalent in labour to the building of the Great Wall of China.

There is also the fact that you’re looking at a bunch of people destroying a beautiful structure by pouring tonnes of concrete into an ant colony. Doesn’t say much about us…
