An Interesting Film On Adam Green And Todd DiCiurcio And Their Approach To Creative Expression
Redirect Our Medium is a short film about Adam Green and Todd DiCiurcio – both of whom are friends – and their approach to creative expression.
Many of you may know Adam Green as one half of the famous ‘anti – folk’ band Moldy Peaches. Since the demise of the duo he has gone onto release a number of solo albums and has started working as an artist and film maker.
Todd DiCiurcio Green is a painter, music video director and sculptor and has made a name for his portraits of some of the most important bands and actors of our times.
Artist Richard Philiips wrote this about Adam and Todd’s creative kinship:
Within our creative lives, the submission to the strictures of existing forms and the subsequent delivery of appropriate content defines convention. The rationality and repetition of convention quickly builds traditions and therefore a sense of security. The nature of avant-garde practice engages in putting this notion of security under pressure and challenges the assumptions of the production of authority that comes with it. The avant-garde act is one of disrupting and reordering the sequences and attendant meanings of how form articulates content from concept to subjective reception and on to cognitive processing. In ‘Redirect Our Medium,’ Adam Green and Todd DiCiurcio address how their approaches to their practices are changing to subvert the slippage into passive acceptance and comfort.
The film was directed by Dirk-Michael Schulz with music by Adam Green.
